What We Do...
Many customers are unsure of exactly what happens when they bring their pooch to a grooming parlour for a pamper, So this is it...!!
First of all you ring you or pop in to make an appointment, when the appointment is made you will be asked for your Surname, your Dogs Name, the Breed of your Dog & a Contact telephone number that we can ring you on if ever we needed to.
When you arrive for your appointment we will let your pooch in to have a wonder around while we (yourself & our groomers) discuss what you would like done to your dog, the style, any special requirements, any illness, any skin problems or allergies. (We do ask that you PLEASE inform us of any of the above, aswell as fully warn us if your dog has a tendency to snap, even if they have only ever done it once.)
Once we have discussed your requirements we then ask you to leave & give you a time to collect your pooches, this is usually a 2 hour wait, dependant on the condition & temperament of the dog. Sometimes their pamper will take a little longer than expected in which case we will contact you to make you aware of this. If you are going to town, shopping etc then we will be happy to have your little friend to stay with us for a bit longer or can give you a call when they are ready if required.
Once you have left, we will give your pooch a few more minutes to wonder around to get his or hers bearings & so they are reassured they are in a safe place. We have fresh water on the floor at ALL times & is freely available.
Once your pooch is quite happy & relaxed we will then put them on the table & give him or her what we call a 'rough clip' which involves clipping/shaving (same thing!) off the worst of the hair & all the excess hair that needs to be gone, this means when they are bathed & dried they aren't under the dryer for long periods of time getting hot drying excess hair that will only come off anyway in the end!!
After having a 'rough clip' we then let them down again to wonder around while we prepare the bath, this gives them a few minutes break before the next step begins. Then we put them in the bath (our bath is 'hydrolic' meaning we are able to move it up & down to different heights, which is fantastic for elderly or large dogs as it doesn't involve lots of lifting & shifting them around & them getting stressed) we shower them, shampoo them (twice) & condition them.
Once they are rinsed & squeaky clean we then have a 'blaster' (this is like a dryer but is alot more powerful & blows the majority of excess water out of the coat, when the excess water is blown out we then use a towel & 'towel dry' them which is just rubbing them dry with a towel. Then we move them back onto the table & use the normal dryer to dry them fully while brushing them at the same time to remove any knots.
Once dry we then do a 'final clip' which is clipping/shaving them into the exact style you requested. We also clip the groin area & armpits for hygiene.
After they are fully clipped we then trim between the pads on their feet & cut their nails. After this we then trim/hand scissor' your pooche into their perfect style.
Once they are finished we give them a light spray with a sweet smelling cologne. They are then able to go on the floor or into a holding cage to wait until you collect them.
The whole process is kept as stress free & relaxed as possible.
DE-MATTING SERVICE - The De-Matting service can only be offered to clients who are of a suitable age & temperament.
IF matting is severe & will cause your pooch pain & discomfort this procedure cannot be offered as it would be a direct contravention of the new animal welfare bill.
We WILL & MUST consider your pooches happiness, health & wellbeing first & foremost.
If the de-matting service cannot be offered then we will 'clip' out the matts & you can begin to re-grow the coat & 'start afresh'.
